3rd and final step of making my poster

I added a quote from a famous artist: Chris martin, whichs shows the band are popular and are held in high regard in the music world, it also gives the poster an added proffesional feeling as most band posters have quotes complementing the band. I added the price of the album at the bottom simply to take up a blank space at the bottom of the poster and it shows the audience where to buy it and how much it will cost.

I added a picture of the album cover that i made and added a quote from one of the band members this makes it look realistic as alot of posters have this feature. I added an hmv exclusive logo after noticing a similar one on a style model.

First i had to choose an image to put on the background but it looked to bright so i simply used the burn tool on photoshop to make it look darker, then i added the hmv logo but i had to delete the white background then change the initial logo into white to fit in with the poster better. The title lyrical criticism isnt bold but the colour and the shadowed background halps it stand out.

analysis of the kill

The song the kill is about someone changing themselves for a woman and realising his mistake. The line “laugh it all off in your face” shows he doesn’t care anymore and will not change himself for her. “What if I fell to the floor, couldn’t take this anymore, what would you do” is showing he has realised she doesn’t care about the way he feels. “Come break me down Bury me, bury me I am finished with you” This is where he is ending the relationship and changing back to the way he was. “I tried to be someone else, but nothing seemed to change, I know now, this is who I really am inside. Finally found myself, fighting for a chance. I know now, this is who I really am.” This is him telling us that changing did not help him and that he has found himself through this experience.
The music video we are doing should show a male going through a rough time, by changing who he really is for someone else. At the end we should see him realising he is wrong and should stay the same.

digipak analysis

The Eminem show album cover is plain and simple; there is an image of the artist in a stage curtain. The E in Eminem is the wrong way round which gives it a sense of the rap genre. The spot light is not on the artist could show the emphasis is on the music and not on him.
The curtain could imply that his music is dramatic. The colour scheme is mostly red which can show anger or lust. Then the font is also big and the colour stands out from the background. The artist looks small compared to the whole album cover which could show he doesn’t want to be the centre of attention and he wants to let his music do the talking.

A2 project music video!!!!

For my A2 project i am teaming up with sam terry to make a music video of the song The kill by 30 seconds to mars. We chose this song as we feel we could create a good music video from the lyrics as they follow a story of someone having a relationship with themselves and we think/hope we can make the video as creepy and scary as it could be.

world wide viewing of my project!!!!!! Evaluation

As you can see people from all over the world have been viewing my blog, this shows people are interested in music projects.
It also shows that to advertise a product, a good way of revealing it is online. About 200 people have viewed my magazine and if they thought it was professional they would buy it. My blog has been operating for 3 months and there has been 200 views, and it is going up every day as this week i have had 47 views so my blog is becoming increasingly popular.

EVALUATION - (What kind of media institution might distribute your media product?)

I have researched Bauer media magazines and Q magazine featured on the website which was my style model, it owns over 80 brands of music magazine, which shows there is alot of competition in the music magazine world. I think Bauer media would distribute my magazine as it is proffesional and it would make money, would fit in well with the other magazines as there is two indie and one rock magazine so i think there is room for another indie/rock magazine.

EVALUATION - (How does your media product represent particular social groups?)

I used two "regular" people on my front cover to appeal to working class people as their rise to fame has been a success like a rags to riches story. Teenagers will relate to her as they could believe they can become famous.

The way they dress can influence teenagers in a certain way to dress as natalie and sam are dressed in an individual style. The magazine fits the indie rock genre so people who follow indie rock will be interested in the magazine. i have included names such as "dave grohl" this attracts people to read it as dave grohl is one of the biggest names in the music industry. Rock is dominated by men, women do not really play a big part in rock but i have broke conventions and made natalie lead singer of "plectrum". But over the last few years women have started to appear more in bands, but we still see them used as sex models in music videos by male artists like queens of the stone age. Hayley williams is now the lead singer of a very successful band which shows women can become as big as men.

My main audience is men that is why there is a female on the front cover and mainly men are interested in rock. I have priced it at £2.99 so it is affordable for working class people and so the magazine makers make money.

EVALUATION - (What have you learnt about technologies throughout the proceess? AND Looking back at the preliminary task, what have you learnt?

Since i started my preliminary task i have learnt to blog every piece of work i do this makes me a prosumer as i am producing multimedia work that anybody can view. This also means i am a consumer and producer as i have looked at other magazines.

I interviewed natalie wood about my magazine, i asked her what she thinks.
Natalie said she would buy my magazine as she is interested in that sort of music, and she thinks the magazine fits the genre of rock, she said it looks proffesional and she wouldnt be able to tell if it was made by a student if it was on the shelves. The magazine is aimed at males and females so she enjoyed looking at it.

This is my finished front cover, i decided to change the grey background into white so you can see all of the text and the images better. i am using the same picture as my first draft as it fits the criteria. i changed the bands name to plectrum as it suited the style of music they play and, the junior sound workshop is my magazine name simply because it is catchy and sounds cool, the colour scheme is simple, red and green, and i mix the two colours together throughout the magazine.

school magazine

This is my final front cover for the school magazine. I have changed the background from yellow so the models clothes blend in with the magazine. the fonts i have used are yellow, the same colour as the heworth grange badge. The front cover as a whole looks proffesional as i have used conventions of a real front cover, like a barcode, the models clothes blend in with the background and the model is in the centre of the cover.

This is my contents page i havnt really changed much in this, i have carried on the style of the front cover by using the same colour scheme and the title is very similar to the one on the front cover.
